Just like the Nektons themselves, dolphins are mammals and are masters at communicating. The dolphins live in pods and can often be found near the Aronnax to play with Ant and Fontaine (who have been around them since they were little!). Fontaine has even been able to use the Mimic Knight to get closer to the dolphins in their own habitat and, along with Ant, has been learning to listen for the distinct sounds made by different species.
